ST. GEORGE'S AMBITION FOR SCIENCE LEARNERS
“Every brilliant experiment, like every great work of art, starts with an act of imagination.” – Jonah Lehrer
At St George’s Primary School, we will INSPIRE all pupils to develop curiosity and experience a sense of awe and wonder about Science. We believe that fostering curiosity about the universe encourages our children to ask questions about how and why.
Our school fosters an inclusive approach, encouraging all children to make sense of the world around them. Lessons will promote a love of Science, allowing children opportunities to investigate and explore through different types of enquiries, maintaining their curiosity and harnessing their ability and confidence to BELIEVE in their own scientific abilities. Children begin St George’s Primary School as Scientists exploring, playing and making links and then build upon this knowledge with a progressive curriculum that challenges misconceptions and prepares them to ACHIEVE in secondary education and beyond. Science is not always about finding the right answer, but the journey it takes to get there.
Our Science curriculum is designed to ensure that pupils know how to ‘be a scientist’. We appreciate and value the place in which Science has in our society and want children to leave us with a mindset to change the world
